About Dr. Larkin Page
Dr. Larkin
Page began his involvement with the Miss America Organization 18 years
ago as a fitness trainer for local contestants in the Miss Texas
Pageant. His involvement grew as he became the Executive Director for
one of the most respected and successful local pageant organizations in
the State of Texas. He served as the Executive Director of the Miss
Collin County Organization for seven years. Five out of the seven
representatives placed in the TOP 10 of the Miss Texas Pageant
during their respective years. Miss Collin County 1999, Heather
Edwards won a preliminary swimsuit award and was named 1st
runner up. Larkin assisted each representative meet their goals by
training them in ALL areas of competition. Each of his contestants
won various awards at the Miss Texas Pageant including physical fitness
and interview.
Larkin
also was the Executive Director of Miss Teen Collin County,
having six representatives that competed in the Miss Teen Texas Pageant.
Larkin produced two Miss Teen Texas’ representing his organization in
1997 and 2000. Each of the other four placed in the TOP 20, three
placing in the TOP 5.
As stated,
Larkin has been a Physical Fitness Trainer for 18 years. He has
trained nearly 500 contestants in their respective pageants. He
trained contestants winning Miss Teen Texas in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000,
2008, and 2010 before they won their state title. In serving as the
Official Miss Teen Texas Physical Fitness Trainer for the past six years,
Larkin trained Meghan Miller, Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen 2005 in her
quest for the national teen title, Miss America’s Outstanding Teen,
which she won. In 2006, he trained Kendall Morris, Miss Texas
Outstanding Teen 2006. Kendal won a preliminary fitness award at the
national 2006 Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant. In 2007,
2008, 2009, and 2010 he trained the new Miss Teen Texas’ in their quest
for the national title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen. Also in 2009
and 2010 he trained Miss New Mexico’s Outstanding Teens, Ashley Fresquez
and Nadine Sanchez.
Larkin has
also trained Miss Texas in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007,
2008, 2009, and 2010 in their pursuit to become Miss America,
training Miss Texas 2001, 2002, 2007, 2008, and 2009 before they won the
Miss Texas title. This is Larkin’s 10th year serving as
the Official Miss Texas Physical Fitness Trainer. His fitness
training of Shilah Phillips Miss Texas 2006, contributed to her success
as she was awarded 1st runner up to Miss America 2007.
Larkin also fitness trained Molly Hazlett, Miss Texas 2007 who won a
preliminary swimsuit competition and placed in the Top 8 at
the 2008 Miss America Pageant. For the 2010 Miss America Pageant he
trained Kristen Blair, Miss Texas 2009. Her outstanding scores in
swimsuit contributed to her success as Top 10.
His
fitness training is not limited to Texas.
He has trained contestants for the Miss New Mexico Pageant, Miss
Arkansas Pageant, Miss California Pageant, Miss Louisiana Pageant, Miss
Oklahoma Pageant, Miss Vermont Pageant, Miss Washington Pageant, Miss
Teen Texas USA Pageant, and Miss Texas USA Pageant. With this work he
trained Miss Washington 2003, and Miss Vermont 2004, Miss Texas USA
2005, and Miss New Mexico 2009 before they were crowned state winners.
He most recently continued his training of Miss New Mexico 2009,
Nicole Miner in ALL phases of competition for the 2010 Miss America
Pageant. Nicole made Top 6 and PLACED HIGHER than any other Miss New
Mexico in their pageant’s history. The last Miss New Mexico to make Top
10 at Miss America was 25 years ago.
Larkin’s pageant expertise extends to all categories of competition.
Larkin’s special talents lie in physical fitness and interview
training utilizing his certifications in physical fitness and his
Bachelor, Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees for interview
training. Larkin is presently an Assistant Professor in the Curriculum
and Instruction Department of the College of Education and Human
Services at Texas A & M University-Commerce. He is also the Program
Director for the Master of Education in Reading degree. Larkin is a
published author focusing his educational research publications on
English Language Learners and popular culture text. |
